4th of July Metric Century (Plus)

4th of July Metric Century

Ride Description / Route Information

2018 marks the 32nd year for our Joliet Bicycle Club annual 4th of July Ride. Come and join us for a great ride through Kendall County, southwest of Plainfield, IL. The routes will be on low traffic roads with light hills through farm and rural settings. All routes will be posted on our website approximately 1 week before the ride. Each route will include SAG Stops where you will be able to refuel, refresh, and chow down on bagels, sandwiches, fruit, cookies and energy drinks.

New for 2018:

  • The ride will include six route options: 32, 45, 54, 62, 75, and 100 miles.
  • The Century Route will be fully supported.
  • We are currently working on new routes for the 54, 62, 75, and 100 miles routes, so be sure to check our website prior to the ride for the latest information.

Registration will open at 7:00, and riders are able to start riding as soon as they have registered. All riders must be off the road by 4:00 PM (This includes the Century Route Riders), so please, don’t take too many breaks and plan accordingly!

Safety

The safety of ride participants is of primary importance. Routes are on public roads and must be shared with motor vehicles. We require all riders wear helmets, ride no more than two abreast, and obey all traffic laws. We believe bicyclists deserve to share the road, showing courtesy to motorists and other riders.
Sag vehicles will be patrolling all routes from 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM. While Sags will stop to help those in need, priority is given to those with justifiable emergencies—riders with irreparable breakdowns, illness or injury. A flat tire is not considered an emergency. All riders should carry a spare tube, pump and water. Please exit roadway at rest stops. All riders aged seventeen and under must be accompanied and supervised by an adult throughout the ride.

Tee Shirts

Again in 2018, we will be using Life Behind Bars as our tee shirt supplier. The tee shirts will be “Wicking Material”, and will be priced at $15.00. Due to the high demand in the past couple of years, we are once again increasing the quantities of shirts we are ordering from LBB. Tee shirts will be available  for purchase when pre-registering on-line or through the mail. The 2018 tee shirt design will be posted on the website on April 1, 2018.
