4th of July Metric Century (Plus)

4th of July Metric Century (Plus)

Ride Description / Route Information

Come and join us for a great ride through Kendall and Grundy Counties, southwest of Plainfield, IL. The fully supported Metric Century includes three basic routes: 32, 45, and 68 miles. Plus…for those who want to get in a full Century, we are once again offering a Century Option. (See Details below). Each basic route will offer marked routes with low traffic and light hills through farm and rural settings.
There will be breaks along the way, at our strategically placed rest stops, to refuel, refresh, and chow down on bagels, sandwiches, fruit, cookies and energy drinks.

Maps and cue sheets for all three routes will be available on the day of the ride.  GPS files of the routes will be available on the website one week prior to the ride date.

All riders must be off the road by 4:00 PM (This includes the Century Route Riders), so please, don’t take too many breaks and plan accordingly!

Safety

The safety of ride participants is of primary importance. Routes are on public roads and must be shared with motor vehicles. We recommend all riders wear helmets, ride no more than two abreast, and obey all traffic laws. We believe bicyclists deserve to share the road, showing courtesy to motorists and other riders.
Sag vehicles will be patrolling all routes, except the route extensions for the Century Route. While Sags will stop to help those in need, priority is given to those with justifiable emergencies—riders with irreparable breakdowns, illness or injury. A flat tire is not considered an emergency. All riders should carry a spare tube, pump and water.

Please exit roadway at rest stops.
All riders aged seventeen and under must be accompanied and supervised by an adult throughout the ride.

Century Option

We are once again offering the option of extending the routes between rest stops on the 62 mile route to get a Full Century. These route extensions will be unsupported, but new for 2017, the route will be marked.

The Century Route will be using the existing rest stops which are listed on the 62 mile route, but for riders needing to refuel between rest stops, the Century route will pass by the Casey’s in Seneca.

We will be providing maps and cue sheets for the Century Route. GPS files of the Century Route will be available on the website one week prior to the ride date.

Century riders must complete the ride by 4:00 – Plan to start early.
